Nevada has enacted legislation that covers criminal history records in general, the establishment of a central repository for criminal history records in Nevada, and the dissemination of sex offense information.
Abstract
Criminal history records refer to information maintained by criminal justice agencies that identifies criminal charges and dispositions. The central repository for Nevada's criminal history records is the Highway Patrol Division of the Department of Motor Vehicles and Public Safety. The Highway Patrol Division collects, maintains, and evaluates criminal history information, and criminal history information can only be disseminated in accordance with strict guidelines. Legislation contains provisions on removing or sealing certain criminal history records, maintaining and disseminating criminal history information on sex offenses, and ensuring appropriate citizen access to public records.
