Legislation has been enacted in New Hampshire that covers criminal records and reports of police agencies, record disposition, public records, information practices, and the New Hampshire State Police's Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI).
Abstract
Legislation requires that the New Hampshire State Police cooperate with other law enforcement agencies at local, State, and Federal levels and that criminal records and reports be released only to authorized individuals and agencies. State police officers must maintain information on all persons for whom there are outstanding arrest warrants for misdemeanors. Legislation specifies procedures for the disposition and annulment of criminal records and for access to public records. Provisions of the Information Practices Act are noted, and operating procedures for the BIC are outlined with respect to the physical security and dissemination of criminal history record information.
