Florida has enacted legislation that addresses responsibilities of the State Department of Law Enforcement and Division of Criminal Investigation, the dissemination of criminal justice information, public access to criminal history records, criminal history record expungement or sealing, and criminal intelligence and investigative information.
Abstract
Legislation contains provisions on Department of Law Enforcement and Division of Criminal Investigation operations, the collection and storage of criminal justice information, the dissemination of criminal justice information, and the exchange of Federal criminal history records and information. Legislation also focuses on public access to criminal history records, the expungement or sealing of criminal history records, Florida's Criminal Justice Information Systems Council and Crime Information Bureau, policies governing access to public records, the collection of criminal intelligence and investigative information, and procedures for requesting criminal history records. In addition, legislative provisions cover Florida's Division of Criminal Justice Information Systems and public access to arrest records.
