This study examined the role of law enforcement in addressing workplace violence by the year 2004.
Abstract
The study had four components: a futures study, a strategic plan that used the Sacramento Police Department as a model for evaluation, a transition management plan, and a conclusion. Futures-related research developed and identified emerging trends and events in the topic area; these were used in developing alternative future scenarios. These scenarios provided the basis for the development of policy considerations and a strategic plan. The strategic plan includes the identification of key stakeholders, along with implementation considerations to achieve the desired future. The transition management plan provides the structure necessary to move the strategic plan forward. The project concludes that there are strategic initiatives that could reduce or eliminate workplace violence. The initiatives include the establishment of acceptable behavioral guidelines for employees, recognition and reporting programs, and the acquisition and implementation of emerging technological security devices. 16 references and a 26-item bibliography
