This volume presents papers from the seminar held in Beijing, China in 1994, focusing on the development and use of criminal justice information, with emphasis on international cooperation.
Abstract
Participants were mainly from the United Nations and China. They focused particularly on technical cooperation related to training, institutional capacity-building, exchange of information, research, needs assessment, and advisory services. Individual presentations focused on the criminal justice system, social statistics, and criminal justice statistics in China; the purpose and strategies for developing criminal justice information; and computerization in the administration of criminal justice. Additional papers focused on the history and scope of victimization surveys, victim surveys in China, and international cooperation in the development and policy use of criminal justice information.
