Abstract
The text is based on A Practical Approach to Criminal Procedure by the late Christopher Emmins. It explains how prosecutions are initiated and details trial procedures, sentencing, and appeals, as well as pretrial procedures ranging form the first court appearance to the granting of bail and legal aid. The discussion includes changes made by the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, together with information on its implementation.
