The juvenile delinquency prevention program of Missouri's Division of Youth Services (DYS) focuses on juvenile court diversion and includes an array of community-based services.
Abstract
Juvenile court diversion is designed to encourage the provision of services to youth at the local level while diverting youth from commitment to the DYS. Services available through the McGruff Program include personal safety, general crime prevention, vandalism and shoplifting prevention, child abuse awareness, and drug abuse prevention. Case management services are offered by the DYS, as well as intensive case monitoring, day treatment, proctor care, family therapy, job services, alternatives to traditional residential settings, residential services, group homes, and secure care. The DYS considers the needs of special youths and also provides aftercare. A map of DYS offices and facilities is included.
