Abstract
Police recruits are evaluated on the basis of their ability to adapt to various situations, ability to get along with people and establish cooperative relationships, appearance, personal hygiene, demeanor, maturity, positive and professional communication skills, alertness, dependability, work habits, and proper off-duty conduct. The police recruit training manual covers commands used at the Recruit Training Academy, as well as firearm training, inspection, and safety procedures. Academy rules and regulations are listed, and law enforcement ethical standards are specified. An organizational chart of the Lakewood Police Department is included.
