Abstract
The author argues that Parliament has been deliberately careless in its construction of language. This article discusses the working of the judiciary, its caseload, the paperwork that police must complete related to the arrest and custody of an offender, the delay in the processing of serious crime cases, and the constitution of the courts. The author calls for an examination of current legislation to reduce the wastefulness and cost of lengthy court procedures.
