This manual presents the course outline, content, instructional aids, handouts, and exercises for a 16-hour training program designed to help police officers become familiar with the philosophy and concepts of community policing.
Abstract
The training program uses lectures and discussions in an academic classroom setting. The program aims to help participants accomplish six objectives. These are to define community policing, identify the roles of the community police officer, list the steps of marketing community policing to the community, state the duties of the community police officer, identify the skills needed to be a successful community police officer, and name the two components of community policing.
