This report presents the Australian Institute of Criminology's database on actions taken or being taken by Australian governments or organizations funded by Australian governments to address the wide variety of actors that may directly or indirectly the levels of violence in our society.
Abstract
The database had its origins in the National Committee on Violence. The information was provided by agencies involved in the implementation of the 138 recommendations of the National Committee of Violence in 1990 and covers responses from 1991 and 1993. These recommendations included general recommendations and recommendations for government dealing with health and welfare, education, employment and training, housing, aboriginal affairs, criminal law and procedure, law enforcement, and courts, as well as information and research agencies, private enterprise, other nongovernmental organizations, the medical and legal professions, architects and planners, and trade unions. Index
