This document presents the Long Beach, Calif. Police Department's Strategic Plan, which sets 14 goals and defines the objectives and specific tasks for accomplishing each goal.
Abstract
The goals for meeting community needs are to focus on community priorities, improve community access to the police department, and develop new partnerships. The goals for improving customer services are to improve patrol response time, reduce illegal gang activity, provide effective criminal investigations, reduce illegal drug activity, provide neighborhood security through solving neighborhood problems, reduce prostitution and lewd behavior, and improve traffic safety. The goal for improving support services is to improve the services that support patrol and investigations. For maximizing the use of department resources, the goals are to maximize the effectiveness of human resources, leverage existing and emerging technology, and maximize the effective use of vehicles and equipment.
