The National Association for the Care and Resettlement of Offenders (NACRO) has worked successfully with criminal justice agencies in England and Wales for over 25 years to develop and implement effective approaches to crime prevention and offender rehabilitation.
Abstract
NACRO assists in the preparation of partnership plans, including advice on voluntary sector involvement; works with probation services to develop new projects and services; and provides housing, employment training, advice, and other services to probation clients and others at risk of offending. NACRO also undertakes crime and community surveys to ensure that crime prevention strategies address real problems and that services meet real needs. Short-term pilot projects initiated by NACRO provide an ideal vehicle to test effective solutions to particular problems. NACRO works in partnership with statutory and voluntary agencies at local and national levels and with a wide range of community organizations and individuals. In addition, NACRO is involved in bail and pretrial work, the provision of services to young offenders and mentally disturbed offenders, aftercare and resettlement, housing, employment, and training.
