The 203,878 offenses recorded by the police in 1992-93 represented an increase of 2.5 percent from the previous fiscal year. These included 19,135 offenses against the person, 149,842 property crimes, and 34,901 public order offenses. A total of 72,800 offenses were cleared (35.7 percent), an increase of 2.5 percent over the previous year.
