Economic crime, being committed on a global scale, is closely related to business activities and economic transactions and is permeating all areas of society, hindering economic growth and the stability of civic life. Economic crime ranges from fraud, embezzlement, and insider trading to insurance fraud, computer- related offenses, and organized crime schemes involving money laundering and loansharking. Various countermeasures implemented to prevent economic crimes, including enactment or amendment of laws, strengthening of administrative control, public activities, specialization in criminal investigative agencies, and imposition of heavy sanctions, have met with varying degrees of success. This conference focused on the actual circumstances of economic crime in each country, effective countermeasures, strategies of investigation and financial deprivation against economic crime, and international law enforcement cooperation in this area.
