The 49th session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly reviewed operations of the UN African Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders (UNAFRI).
Abstract
The General Assembly noted that UNAFRI has increasingly been recognized by member states as a dynamic and viable instrument for enhancing regional cooperation, coordination, and collaboration in fighting crime and promoting criminal justice. UNAFRI's work program for 1993-1994 consisted of the following subprogram activities: general direction and management, training and human resource development, comparative research and policy development, advisory services and technical cooperation, information and documentation services, joint activities, and conferences and seminars. Funding and support provided by member states to UNAFRI are detailed, and resource limitations of the organization are noted. 4 tables
