Abstract
The manual is divided into 10 units, each covering two to five topics related to security management and security programs. Individual chapters focus on learning skills and study habits, trends in the private security industry, supervisory report writing, security personnel policies and procedures, security personnel selection, and issues related to human reliability. Additional chapters explain principles of optimal personnel deployment, issues related to multicultural diversity and related communication skills, techniques for dealing with difficult employees, prevention of unethical actions by security officers, and time and stress management. Further chapters discuss outsourcing in private security, uniforms and equipment, managing and supervising to reduce liability, handling complaints and grievances, testimony in court, curriculum design, supervision and training, staff training and development, and testing for learning retention.
