Following a statement of the purpose of the report writing guide, the elements of a PACE (computerized records system) incident report are described. A list of report titles is provided, and a section on written statements discusses when and how to take victim/witness statements, as well as the contents of these statements. Other sections address general report requirements and domestic-violence report requirements. Report- writing guidelines are then provided for some 24 offenses and circumstances. The general format of the guidelines for each offense encompasses the elements of the crime, narrative requirements, and the use of an event log. Elements of the narrative requirements include occurrence, suspect, evidence/testimony, follow-up/actions taken, and notification and results. Under each of these areas the guide specifies questions be answered by the officer in the report or information to be included in the report. This format varies somewhat in accordance with the information requirements for a particular offense or incident. Subject index
