Abstract
The first section discusses the imprisonment of women in the Federal system, and specifically focuses on the evolution of the Federal women's prison, reform of Federal women's imprisonment, and the contributions of aboriginal women to prison reform. The second section presents profiles of women offenders, and examines the issues of prostitution and media stereotypes of women in prison. The final section outlines theoretical considerations about women in conflict with the law, and highlights the need for a battered woman syndrome offense and issues related to aboriginal women and the law.
