This report provides statistical data on expenditures and employment for fiscal 1991 for Federal, State, county, and municipal justice systems.
Abstract
Two tables show the percent distribution of expenditure as well as employment and payrolls for justice systems by level of government (all governments, Federal, State, and local). Another table shows the percentage of distribution of justice system direct expenditure by State and type of government for each State and local governments within each State. Justice system expenditure by character, State, and type of government is displayed in another table. Justice system employment and percent distribution of full-time equivalent employment is shown in a table by State and type of government for October 1991. This is followed by a table that shows the percent distribution of justice system payrolls by State and type of government for October 1991. A table provides data on police sworn and nonsworn employment and payrolls and percent distribution of full-time equivalent employment by State and type of government for October 1991. Other data pertain to per capital justice expenditure and full-time equivalent justice employment; justice system expenditure of State governments by sector, character, and object; direct expenditure for correctional activities of State governments by character and object; employment and payrolls of State governments by sector; expenditure of 68 large county governments by sector, character, and object; sworn and nonsworn police employment and payrolls of 68 large county governments; and expenditure and employment data for 48 large city justice systems. 20 tables
