The F-33 Committee of the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) has adopted standards that affect the use of detention equipment and security electronic systems in correctional facilities.
Abstract
The F-33 Committee specifically focuses on the promotion and development of standards for materials, products, assemblies, and systems used to construct and operate locks and detention and correctional facilities for adults and juveniles. The F-33 Committee has an agenda for 23 standards that encompass physical barriers, operational systems, and furnishings and equipment. ATSM standards promulgated by the F-33 Committee represent a collection of documents that can provide protection to correctional facility designers and operators. Standards and test methods are detailed for detention locks and detention security control systems.
