Traditional criminological approaches to child sexual abuse committed by strangers considers these offenses to be rare and give little attention to the psychological and social harm suffered by the victims.
Abstract
Criminology focuses on the offender and explains these crimes in terms of offenders' personality disorders. Some also suggest that the sexual abuse of a child existed only in the child's imagination. The issue of child sexual abuse by strangers requires proper attention, because publications in the popular press and talk shows on television cannot prevent child abuse. (Publisher summary modified)
