Annotation: The planning of the research program to be carried out by the Great Britain Home Office Research and Planning Unit is a three-stage process which involves formulating overall strategy, allocating resources to different areas of work, and planning specific research projects within the context of particular themes.
Abstract: This report reviews the research program for 1992-1993 and provides details of planned projects for 1993-1994. The 17 themes for the 1993-1994 program include patterns of crime, victims of crime, crime prevention, reducing criminality, drugs, police and community, police powers and criminal justice, management of the police service, administration of justice, dealing with offenders through community penalties and prisons, prison inmate and system management, equality of treatment in the criminal justice system, immigration and nationality, race relations, voluntary services, the Passport Agency, and fire services. The specific projects to be undertaken for each theme are described in terms of research body, starting date, total cost (where available), and brief description.
