The following sections each deal with an actor in the criminal justice system: the police, prosecutors, defense attorneys, courts, and the correctional system. Some of the specific issues examined by the contributing authors include police use of deadly force, plea bargaining, defense attorney perspectives on their relations with criminal clients, the effect of race on sentencing, and the use of intermediate sanctions.
