The first table presents the inmate population number and percentage by offense for the total population and for the population in each institution. Data are shown for categories of offenses and for each type of offense within the categories. The broad offense categories are violent offenses, property offenses, drug offenses, and "other offenses" (escape, driving under the influence, arson, possession of a weapon, and other offenses). The second table presents inmate population statistics for each controlling offense by commitment type for the total inmate population and by gender. The third table presents inmate population data (number and percentage) by racial/ethnic group for the total inmate population and for each institution. Another table presents statistics for racial/ethnic groups by commitment type (felon, civil addict, "other"). Other tables present inmate population statistics by age group for commitment type and institution, area and county of commitment by institution and commitment type, parole/outpatient return status under current commitment by institution and commitment type, and type of commitment by institution.
