MYCAP's goals are to develop support systems for minority youth in the community; develop resources and alternatives; encourage family involvement; network with State and community agencies with similar concerns to maximize resources, alternatives, and support; provide cross-cultural effectiveness training and consultation; and counsel with at-risk minority youth in the public sector. The treatment plan focuses on improvement in peer relations, staff relations, anger control, family relations and support systems, thinking errors, and short- term and long-term goals. The program aims to counter gang involvement particularly through services related to employment, training, education, military and civil service opportunities, professional counseling, positive peer group counseling/interaction, youth activities, and mentors. The family is strengthened through a support system from other families, family mentoring, education, training, and the facilitation of fairness in utility and food costs. Community efforts are designed to generate pride and camaraderie through community projects. This report also contains a monthly evaluation form, program statistics, testimonials about program effectiveness, and professional and philosophical perspectives of the program.
