Abstract
The criminal record data extended into followup periods of 8 to 25 years. Results revealed that 26 percent had at least one conviction for a contact sex offense. A conviction was statistically associated with 20 variables. The most important factors were a history of childhood conduct disorder, convictions for acquisitive offending, excessive libido, homosexuality, exhibiting at more than one site, cornering or pursuing the victim of the exposure, touching the victim, and being assessed as having an unfavorable prognosis. In addition, discriminant function analysis correctly allocated more than 80 percent of the cases, suggesting that, with further research, the feasibility of predicting dangerousness in exhibitionists.
