This book discusses sexual addiction and its treatment in the context of an innovative therapeutic program developed by the authors.
Abstract
The first few chapters discuss the assessment of sex addiction, present an overview of treatment modalities, and explore the etiology of sex addiction. The multimodality treatment approach described here strives to eliminate deviant behavior, correct cognitive distortions, and develop alternatives for the patient in the realms of communication and social skills training. The treatment team focuses on the mother-daughter relationship, particularly as it pertains to incestuous situations, and the victim-victimizer dynamic. The book describes strategies designed to prevent relapse, emphasizes the importance of creative art and sandplay therapies, and focuses on the need for forgiveness and spiritual recovery of the sexual addict. 94 references
