This directory is designed to provide visibility and accessibility to alcohol and other drug services, as well as access to providers who actively promote the prevention and treatment of African-Americans with alcohol and drug-related problems.
Abstract
The agencies and individuals listed in the directory have shown a commitment to serving African-Americans and have significant participation by African-Americans as staff or participants in their programs. Their inclusion in this directory does not represent a blanket endorsement of all their activities by the National Black Alcoholism Council, California Chapter. Names, addresses, and telephone numbers are provided for the members of the Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs, African- American Constituent Committee. Names, addresses, contact persons, and phone numbers are provided for African-American newspapers. Other lists consist of African-American Members of the U.S. House of Representatives and office locations of the Urban League, Inc. The listing of northern California and southern California agencies includes a statement of philosophy and services as well as addresses and phone numbers for each agency. The directory also includes a listing of individual African-Americans who work in the alcohol and drug field.
