The first four chapters focus on how adults react to the violence around them, what they do when they are angry, how anger can turn into abuse and domestic violence, and what adult behavior teaches children about managing their emotions. The remainder of the book helps teachers recognize signs of child abuse, turn their classrooms into violence-free zones, and teach children to express their feelings and solve problems. The book contains activities for adults designed to prompt open discussion of these issues, and activities for children, including games that teach cooperation, music, stories, role playing, projects that encourage children to talk about their feelings, and matching games.
