The first section focuses on the organization, personnel, and transactions of the court system and analyzes the number of cases which were heard in the different types of criminal and civil courts. The second section presents police statistics concerning crime investigations, suspects, and clearance rates. The third section analyzes prosecuted and convicted offenders according to different types of offenses with special emphasis on juvenile offenses, traffic offenses, larceny, and drug offenses. Section four focuses on prison statistics including prison capacity and actual prison use in the former West German states while the final section provides statistics on probation officers and probationers. This collection is convenient because of the broad range of topics it covers; however, in each of these areas in- depth individual publications also exist.
