Abstract
Published annually by each German state, its purpose is to aid in crime prevention and repression, organizational planning, criminological research, and policy-making. The first section provides an overall survey of criminal activity in Niedersachsen including offense categories, clearance rates, crime trends and developments from 1984 to 1994. The following section focuses on specific offense categories: offenses against life, rape, robbery, physical injury, theft, fraud, environmental offenses, drug law offenses, and miscellaneous offenses. The section on suspects compares suspected offenders to the German population at large; a special section categorizes foreign offenders according to age, gender, reason for staying in Germany, offense committed, and nationality. Next, victims are analyzed according to age, gender, relation to offender, and crime categories. The statistics concludes with charts on crime in Niedersachsen's large cities. Numerous charts and graphs are appended.
