Abstract
Carjacking, as portrayed in this video, involves direct contact between the car thief and a car's driver, in the attempted theft of the vehicle. The video's narrator profiles the prevalence and method of carjacking. One recommendation for avoiding a carjacking is to be aware of the cars and people around you when driving your car, particularly when coming to a stop or approaching your car when it is parked. Advice for driving is to stay in the center lane to prevent a pedestrian from entering the car from the curb, and keep the car locked while driving. When parking to do shopping, park as close to the store as possible. Other suggestions are to carry car keys separate from other keys to expedite entering the car and to prevent other keys from being taken should a carjacking occur. Should your car be bumped in the rear, do not get out of the car; motion for the other party to follow you to a safe area. At stop lights, leave enough space between you and the car in front to allow escape should a car try to box you in from the rear. If threatened, lean on the horn until help arrives or the potential perpetrator leaves the scene.
