The program provides leadership, coordination, and resources for drug prevention and education in each of DEA's 19 domestic field divisions. The program is operated by special agents known as Demand Reduction Coordinators (DRC's) who have broad experience in dealing with law enforcement, community groups, young people, employers, educators, health care professionals, and others. The work of DRC's is guided by a national strategy that has six priorities: anti-legalization education, drug prevention programs supported by community-based coalitions, sports drug awareness programs, law enforcement training, workplace programs, and youth programs. Major Demand Reduction Program activities during 1994 are summarized in relation to these priorities.
