The British Home Office Police Research Group (PRG) has developed an offender profiling program designed to provide support to investigators of low-incidence serious crimes, i.e., stranger rape and sex-related child homicide.
Abstract
The program allows investigators to collate and analyze many examples of detective experience with low incidence crimes, collate and supplement relevant research in other fields, and consult with experts in the development of inferences for these crime types. The program provides investigative support by combining detective expertise with behavioral science theory and testing the resulting hypotheses against data sets of solved crimes.
