This document includes a provisional annotated agenda and proposed organization of work for the United Nations-sponsored World Ministerial Conference on Organized Transnational Crime.
Abstract
The conference participants addressed the problems and dangers posed by organized transnational crime in different global regions. National legislation is one approach toward preventing and controlling organized transnational crime; the conferees discussed appropriate guidelines for legislative and other measures to be taken at the national level. Another topic for discussion was effective forms of international cooperation at the investigative, prosecutorial, and judicial levels. Finally, the conference participants addressed appropriate modalities for the prevention and control of organized crime regionally and internationally, possibly through the elaboration of international instruments. 4 notes and 1 appendix
