The 1995 annual report of Justice addresses efforts of the organization to reform England's criminal justice system and to protect human rights.
Abstract
Since its formation nearly 40 years ago, Justice has made notable contributions to criminal justice system reform, including the ombudsman system, the rehabilitation of offenders by erasing past convictions, statutory compensation for victims of violence, the introduction of data protection legislation, and efforts to stop insider training. Justice is also involved in the work of the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) and has taken an active role in shaping CCRC procedures. At the same time, Justice has been developing other areas of policy work, principally human rights. The annual report covers the activities of Justice with respect to the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act of 1994, criminal appeal and review, prosecution disclosure and evidence admissibility, homicide laws, litigation and casework, civil law, public law, and family law.
