Abstract
Individual sessions focused on issues related to young children and issues related to adolescents. Participants and speakers were prosecutors and a representative of the National Center for the Prosecution of Child Abuse, a resource organization for prosecutors that has prepared a manual, publishes a newsletter, and provides other services. The discussions focused on criminal and civil cases involving child sexual abuse, judicial decisions, and individual prosecutors' own experiences with trial preparation and trials. Specific topics included interactions with detectives, issues regarding state laws, the preparation of juveniles for court appearances, interactions with parents, how to file charges, defense strategies, and others.
