After reviewing the rise of the information society and computer dependency, the discussion centers on four areas of criminal justice in which computers and computer-based technologies are extensively used: database management, computer-assisted communication, computer-assisted instruction and training, and computer-assisted monitoring of offenders. Computers also provide a relatively new field for criminal endeavor.
