A hearing was convened in June 1982 before the Subcommittee on Criminal Law of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary to examine proposed legislation that would make the robbery of pharamcies a Federal crime.
Abstract
The opening statement characterized the problem of pharmacy robbery as a serious and growing crime phenomenon and noted that crime prevention measures are needed to deter assaults and deaths associated with pharmacy theft. Testimony at the hearing examined provisions of the Comprehensive Drug Abuse, Prevention, and Control Act and the Controlled Substances Act, as well as government and pharmacy industry efforts to control crime. Statements were presented by the National Association of Retail Druggists and by other government and private organizations concerned with the theft of drugs from retail pharmacies. Provisions of the proposed pharmacy robbery legislation are included. Tables and figures
