The U.S. General Accounting Office (GAO) examined some specific aspects of the Federal judiciary's operations.
Abstract
This report discusses the appropriations, expenditures, and functions of the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts and the Federal Judicial Center, including any significant duplication in functions and services between the two agencies. The GAO evaluated the costs of FJC education and training programs, and the annual number and cost of meetings of the Judicial Conference and its committees, circuit judicial conferences, and circuit judicial councils. The report also analyzed the cost, by circuit, of any circuit task forces on gender, racial, and ethnic bias, and the process used to select any executive directors for the task forces. 7 appendixes
