This report prevents information on the average daily population in each adult and juvenile correctional institution in New Jersey from July 1994 through June 1995.
Abstract
During the fiscal year the correctional institutions had an average daily population of 24,826 offenders, 14,822 of whom were housed in State prison facilities, 4,919 of whom were housed in youth correctional facilities, and 636 of whom were housed in juvenile facilities. An additional 4,449 State-sentenced offenders were housed in county facilities. Six hundred one of the prison facility's inmates were housed in contract halfway houses. From fiscal year 1995 to fiscal year 1995 the average daily population increased 3 percent, including a 4 percent increase in the State prisons, a 1 percent increase in the youth complex, and a 2 percent increase in juvenile facilities. Fifteen percent of the offenders were housed in the main and satellite facilities of the New Jersey State Prison. Tables
