Nancy Gist, the Director of BJA, presents BJA's mission and the various areas of criminal justice operations upon which its mission focuses. Its mission is to "support and improve the criminal justice system by funding innovative program initiatives, and providing training and technical assistance." The areas in which this mission is advanced are crime prevention, enforcement, adjudication, corrections options, and comprehensive community-based programs. The director notes that one of the achievements of which BJA is particularly proud is its forging of partnerships between the Federal Government and State, local, and private agencies involved in various aspects of the criminal justice mission. The video presents a sampling of the programs that BJA is funding in the areas of crime prevention, enforcement, adjudication, corrections, and community-based programs. A narrator's description of each program accompanies video portrayals of program activities. Following these program descriptions, representatives of various State, local, and private organizations that have benefitted from a partnership with BJA comment on what BJA funding and technical assistance has meant to the work of their agencies.
