The Partnerships Against Violent Network (PAVNET) presents two computer diskettes that provide information on promising programs to combat or prevent violence and its causes, as well as offer sources for information, technical assistance, and funding.
Abstract
PAVNET is a new initiative that reflects Federal cooperation among the Departments of Agriculture, Education, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Justice, and Labor to facilitate the development of comprehensive approaches to reducing violence. PAVNET is an information-sharing resource that integrates data concerning a wide range of ideas and resources currently available. PAVNET draws on information stored in more than 30 Federal clearinghouses and resource centers. Included in this Resource Guide are programs developed by government agencies, private foundations, religious and fraternal associations, and highly motivated citizens and community organizations as well as sources for funding, technical assistance, and additional information. Diskette 1 provides promising programs to combat or prevent violence and its causes. They encompass community violence, youth violence, family violence, substance abuse, and victims. Diskette 2 offers sources for information, technical assistance, and funding available to communities, agencies, and individuals interested in learning about and adopting the types of program strategies described in diskette 1. The packet also contains a hard copy of information on programs contained on diskette 1.
