Abstract
The first section discusses pre-internship considerations, i.e., the educational and professional benefits associated with serving an internship, the placement process, and the need to set personal goals and identify educational objectives. The second section discusses some issues that can arise during an internship. The various chapters cover the student's role as an intern, the supervisory process, a methodology for recording the internship experience, and the ethical and moral dilemmas an intern might confront. The third section deals with the role of the internship agency; specific topics discussed include organizational characteristics, political and legal factors that affect the daily operation of an agency, and an agency's effectiveness and role in the overall criminal justice system. The final section helps students assess their performance as interns and the professional implications of the total internship experience. 11 figures and 38 references
