These summaries describe 87 demonstration projects that are located in 20 States and the District of Columbia in 1992 and 1993 and are designed to prevent students from dropping out of school.
Abstract
Each project is described in terms of its location, title, director, grant number, and dollar amount of funding for 1992 and 1993. Projects include direct or supplementary intervention for at-risk middle school students; a school-community collaboration to support families, provide mentors, and enhance academic skills and career interests of at-risk middle school students; and an alternative education program for dropout prevention and dropout retrieval. Other programs include an after-school program of tutoring in reading, writing, and mathematics for elementary school students; after-school career exploration, college preparatory information, and academic assistance for high school students; and a college-school partnership to collaborate in restructuring school programs.
