This collection presents 1992 statistics on civil and criminal courts as well as the activities of district attorneys in the former West Germany.
Abstract
Corresponding statistics for the former East Germany are not yet available. The first section provides a survey of the different types of courts and court employees in each of the 11 West German states. The following sections are devoted to the activities of the different levels of civil courts and family courts including case flow, offense types, and type of sentence imposed. The section on criminal courts analyzes court case flows on different court levels, duration of the trial, and the outcome of the trial (e.g., cases dismissed, types of sentences). The section on district attorney activities analyzes the case flow, the type of criminal proceedings initiated, the type of sentence imposed, and the duration of the criminal proceedings for each German state. Additional sections are devoted to the activities of tax and financial courts, administrative courts, and labor courts.
