Abstract
Published annually, its purpose is to trace crime developments and trends in the united Germany and to aid in crime prevention and repression, organizational planning, criminological research, and policymaking. The first section provides a general synopsis of criminal activity in Germany including overall criminality, development of crime in 1991/94, regional distribution of crime, use of firearms, victims, and damage. It also presents more detailed information on clearance rates and suspects. The second section focuses on specific offense categories, such as murder and manslaughter, offenses against sexual self-determination, robbery, bodily injury, offenses against personal liberty, arson, environmental offenses, juvenile offenses, drug offenses, and economic offenses. For each of the categories, charts and graphs analyze the overall number of cases, the suspects (with a specific section devoted to alien suspects), victims, and offense rates per 100,000 inhabitants. Numerous charts and graphs on the number of offenses by community size, damages, cleared cases, suspects according to place of residence, and relationships between victims and suspects are appended.
