Abstract
Nevada's 1992 drug strategy identified a multidisciplinary approach involving enforcement, education, prevention, and treatment to influence all segments of society involved in drug trafficking and drug use. The strategy had the following purpose areas: demand reduction education programs; multijurisdictional task force programs; community and neighborhood programs; improved operational effectiveness of law enforcement and the court process; programs to meet the treatment needs of both adult and juvenile drug-dependent and alcohol-dependent offenders; enhanced drug control technology; and improved criminal justice and juvenile justice system responses to domestic and family violence. During 1992, 40 grants were funded, for a total amount of $2,794,000. These grants were funded for such projects as Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE), multijurisdictional task forces, gang prevention, drug treatment, and drug prevention. Project summaries are provided according to purpose areas of Nevada's drug control strategy. 4 tables
