Approximately $8.1 million in funds were provided to Wisconsin by the Edward Byrne Memorial State and Local Law Enforcement Formula Grant Program in 1993-1994 to address the problem of drug and alcohol abuse.
Abstract
Funding was distributed to projects covering State and local law enforcement, strategic intelligence support services, and treatment programs. Law enforcement programs funded in 1993-1994 focused on the Division of Narcotics Enforcement, multijurisdictional task forces, and a drug abatement program in Milwaukee. Funding for support services involved projects to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of the investigative process, drug offense reporting, and crime laboratories. In addition, funding was made available for drug prosecution and training, drug courts, prison-based treatment, and criminal history records improvement. Progress made by each of the projects is summarized. Tables and figures
